Knowledge Constructor — the most important standard in ISTE Standards

In my personal opinion, I think the Knowledge Constructor standard is the most important standard for students, especially in the 21st century.

ISTE’s Knowledge Constructor standard requires students to understand and contextualize information online. This is important since the Internet has started an age of hyper-information, where it’s all but impossible to keep up with world events using traditional methods. There’s also a shocking amount of misinformation (intentional or accidental) in the world that makes its way online every day. As a result, students need to know what reliable information looks like and where they can find it. Besides, students need to learn critical thinking and apply it to 21st-century technology. Once students have critical thinking skills, I believe they will be capable of lifelong self-study.
